Robbinsdale-Crystal Little League(RCLL) registration is now open!

Greetings baseball families and friends,

It was great to have a season last year and we are excited for 2022!  To kick off season 2 of our combined Robbinsdale and Crystal programs, we created a new website URL(rclittleleague.org) and new logo.   As mentioned above, registration for the 2022 regular season is now open.  To register, click the registration link on the home page or visit the registration info tab to get more details about registration and register.  Registration will be open until Friday, March 11th.

To be eligible for RCLL your residency or school attended must fall within our boundaries.  Refer to link below. https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/league-finder/

We will continue to update the site with information, but for those new to little league, practices will start in April, with games starting at the beginning of May and going through the end of June.   In July, there is all-star baseball for those selected and willing to participate on an all-star team.  We have four levels: Rookie(ages 5-7), B-Minor (ages 7-9), A-minor (ages 9-12), and Majors(ages 11-12).  Schedule depends on the number of kids and teams,  but for Rookies practices and games will be Tues/Thurs evenings, including Saturday games on Opening Day and Super Saturday(last day of season).  Every age level plays in these Saturday events and it's always a fun community environment…..yes the concessions grill will be back this year!

Those interested in coaching/volunteering will need to also fill out a separate background registration form on the website.  The link can be found below on the home page or by clicking on the registration info tab.  All levels and experience welcome.  We do have coaches training prior to the season.

There are currently two open positions on the RCLL board: sandlot coordinator and minors coaches coordinator.  If interested please reach out to the board to join a great team of people.

For families looking for assistance covering registration fees, there is the opportunity to apply for the T-mobile Little League Call Up grant.  In order to apply, follow the link below prior to registering for RCLL 2022 regular season.

Starting this year, we will also be offering two scholarships for in need families, sponsored by Brian Swan's coaching clinic, in honor of former little league coach Jay Boughton.  Please reach out to the registrar for more information on this if interested.

There are also a couple spring training opportunities.

RCLL has partnered with Pine Tar academy in Brooklyn Park and they are offering eight Fridays, Jan 7th-Feb 25th, 60 min sessions, for only $50.  Space is limited.  Ages 5-8 will be 5-6pm, and ages 9-12 will be 6-7pm.  Scroll to the bottom of this link.

Like last year, we will also be offering free spring training sessions in late February/early March.  We will send out reminders for those later on for sign up.  But the dates so far will be Sundays 2/27 (9am-12pm), 3/6 (9am-12pm) at the New Hope Community Gym.

Evaluations will take place at West Lutheran High School on Sunday 3/13 (11am - 6pm).  It is important that all players attend evaluations.  The purpose of evaluations is to ensure teams are as equal as possible.  More details to follow.  There will be a make-up date available at the same location Monday 3/14 (6pm - 8pm), but every effort should be made to attend on that Sunday.

Again, looking forward to the 2022 season!  Go RC!!!

Tragic Passing of Jay Boughton

Greetings RCLL Families,

Many of you may have seen the recent news regarding former longtime Crystal Little League coach, a great baseball guy, and an even better person in the community, Jay Boughton. Jay was a coach in Crystal Little League for 7 years and has been a coach in the Armstrong Cooper Youth Baseball Association for the past 3 years. Jay was a victim of a senseless shooting in Plymouth on Tuesday July 6 while driving home with his son from a U15 game in Coon Rapids. Jay's injuries were so severe that he did not survive surgery and he passed away early Wednesday morning, July 7.

If you have not seen any of the news stories, here are links to a couple of them. There is a Go Fund Me account setup for Jay’s family and if you are willing and able to share the link and story, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, thank you for taking the time to read this message.
